The 2005 Grand Cherokee was redesigned newly for the model year 2005, gaining power, size and luxury features. The 2005 model is longer in comparison to the 2004 model by 5 inches in overall length and 3.5 inches in wheel base.
This robust design was offered in two different models, namely upscale Limited and small or base model Laredo. Both the models had the seating capacity of up to five passengers. The Laredo model was powered by a 4.0 liter inline engine, which produces power up to 195 hp and the 3.7 liter V6 engine produces 210 hp.
The 4.7 liter V8 engine was offered as optional for Laredo and standard to the Limited version. This model produces 230 hp at an angular speed of 6000 rpm. The only available transmission to the vehicle was five-speed automatic with manual shift gate. The 4.7 liter V8 engine offered both the all wheel drive and the rear wheel drive.
The new options included in this model include satellite radio, Chrysler’s Uconnect, hands free wireless link to cell phones and DVD rear entertainment system.
