The 2001 Grand Cherokee was a mid-sized SUV model offered in two different trim levels- base model Laredo and upscale model Limited. Both the models were powered by the 4.0 liter inline-6 engine and also offered V8 as an optional. All the V6 models were paired to the four-speed automatic transmission, where as the V8 engine was mated to the five-speed automatic transmission.
For 2001, Limited models were provided with the 16 inch wheels, while they were offered as optional to the base models. The competitor SUV models to this line of vehicle were Dodge Durango, Lexus RX 300 and Mercedes M-Class.
Performance
As far as the performance figures of the vehicle, the 4.0 liter inline-6 engine delivered 195 hp at an angular speed of 4600 rpm and torque of 230 lb ft at an angular speed of 3000 rpm. The engine had the bore size of 98.4 mm, stroke size of 86.7 mm and compression ratio of 8.7.

The exterior of the this model was featured with body side molding, passenger and driver power black door mirrors, rear and front black bumpers, heat reflexive glass, complex surface lens halogen bulb head lights, roof rails, and wind shield wipers.
