1996 Grand Cherokee was one of the first generation models of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. As time progressed, the performance of the upcoming models improved drastically. But, the earlier models, especially the 1994 and 1996 Grand Cherokee models had a whole lot of problems such as the 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee starting problems…
Several customers reported that the battery did not even hold charge if the jeep wasn’t started for couple of days. The situation was reported to worsen in winter season, and keeping the foot on gas was the only way to keep it running.
Performance
Of course, weak fuel economy has been the biggest concern, and it was most profound in the 1994 and 1996 Grand Cherokee models.
During high speeds, taking sharp turns was quite dangerous as the vehicle hardly had any of the safety equipments seen in current generation vehicles. However, surprisingly, it was quite spacious and pleasurable to drive even long distances.
Looking at the goodness of 1996 Grand Cherokee, it had ample cargo space, and even after all the seats were fixed in position there was enough space to keep water bottle, miscellaneous items and still move your legs, and shoulders around.
