Jeep Grand Cherokee was introduced in the year 1993 as a midsize crossover Sport utility Vehicle.
The Cherokee SUV was released as a predecessor to the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. The variant was produced by Chrysler Corporation during the period 1993 to 1998, by Daimler Chrysler during the period 1998 to 2007, and again by the Chrysler LLC group from the year 2008.
The SUV is built on the four-door body style, with the front engine layout providing either the four wheel drive or the rear wheel drive.

The Grand Cherokee vehicle is the first Jeep product from the Chrysler. This enticing Jeep was first introduced at the North American International Auto Show in the year 1992 at Detroit, Michigan.
First Generation Jeep Grand Cherokee (1993-1998)
The first generation Jeep Grand Cherokee was released in 1993 and the company has continued its production till 1998 with no more major changes in most of the aspects. The manufacturing units were set-up at Detroit in Michigan and at Graz in Austria during the initial years.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee was released in various trims such as Limited, and the base version. The features in the base vehicle include standard 5-speed manual transmission, cloth interior and other interior instruments.
The other features included in the vehicle are power door locks, power windows, cruise control system and exterior features include 5-spoke aluminum wheels and plastic lower body panel.
The Limited version came with the features like the remote keyless entry system, waffle casted aluminum wheels, sunroof mirrors, heated seats and mirrors and an onboard computer.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee model was awarded as the 4-wheel drive vehicle for the model year 1998.
The noteworthy features included full leather spare tire, mesh grille inserts, soft leather seats and trims and leather shift handles.
Second Generation Jeep Grand Cherokee
The second generation Cherokee models were released in 1994, based on the WJ platform. It had five speed automatic and four speed 42RE automatic transmissions.

The Grand Cherokee released with 3.1 liter turbo diesel engine included with catalysts to control nitrogen oxides, electronic injection pump, and exhaust gas recirculation. The car has the displacement of 3124 cc and delivers power of 194 kilo watts and 367 Nm of torque.
Third Generation Jeep Grand Cherokee (2005-2010)
The third generation Cherokee was released in 2005. It has the assembly plants at Detroit in Michigan and at Graz in Austria. Its design was based on the WK platform and it was provided with various engine option such as 3.7 liter powertech V6, 5.7 liter hemi V8, 6.1 liter hemi V8, 4.7 liter powertech V8 engine and the 3.0 liter OM642 V6 CRD engine.

It featured five speed W5A580 automatic and the 5-speed 545RFE automatic transmissions.
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be offered in following trim levels – Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8, limited, Overland, and Laredo.
